During May 2025, the Radha Krishna Temple in Cape Town resonated with the powerful vibrations of the Sri Rudram, as devotees gathered for the Rudram 11 — a collective chanting of the Sri Rudram eleven times, invoking peace, purification, and divine grace.
At first glance, the pairing of Sri Rudram, a Vedic hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva, with the Radha-Krishna tradition might seem unusual. But in truth, it reflects the deepest unity of the Sanatana Dharma — where the Divine is worshipped in infinite forms, yet recognized as One Supreme Reality.
As the Sri Rudram was chanted, it became clear: whether we chant “Namah Shivaya” or sing “Radhe Govinda,” we are calling upon the same eternal consciousness, the same divine love.
In the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam (10.88.3–6), Lord Shiva himself proclaims:
“The one Supreme Lord appears in many forms — myself, Brahma, and others — only to help beings understand the Divine. Though we differ in name and form, we are all connected to that One without a second.”
Here, the great Mahadeva humbly declares that he is a servant of Sri Hari, and that all divine manifestations are part of the one indivisible Absolute. It is in this spirit that Rudram was chanted — not in separation, but in unity.
This gathering was a reminder that in spiritual life, boundaries dissolve. Shaiva and Vaishnava, form and formless, sound and silence — all flow together when the heart is sincere.
By chanting Rudram in the presence of Radha and Krishna, we honored not just tradition, but the deeper truth behind it: that all paths lead to the Divine, and all names are His.

We extend heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers, chanters, and devotees who came together in seva (service) to make this event a reality. A special thanks to the Cape Hindu Cultural Society (CHCS) and their orgranising team for accomodating Vedas4All and allowing us the use of their holy and sacred premises.
May the vibrations of the Sri Rudram protect and purify our city, our communities, and our inner world.
The next Rudram11 will be extra special as we aim to chant the Sri Rudram in a Church in Cape Town. More details to follow!
Om Namah Shivaya. Jai Shri Radhe. Jai Shri Krishna.
