The month of March 2025 is significant to a number of religious and spiritual seekers. Our Hindu sisters and brothers are fasting in preparation for Holi. Our Islamic sisters and brothers are fasting for the holy month of Ramadan and our Christian sisters and brothers are fasting for Lent. It was with this multifaith backdrop that Vedas4All held the third monthly Rudram 11 for 2025 in KZN in the Sarva Dharma Ashram n Welbedacht East- a venue encompassing all religions.
This Ashram was established over 30 years ago by Swami Ramkripananda as a participative development programme, whereby people are encouraged to participate in their own growth and development, so that they can become positive and constructive contributors to society. The words "sarva dharma" embrace the idea of equal respect for different faiths, thus making this the ideal place, at this time, for this Rudram 11.
The Sri Rudram is truly a universal chant:
The Chamakam asks not just for personal blessings but for collective prosperity, health, and peace.
This is similar to prayers like the Christian Lord’s Prayer, the Jewish Shalom prayer, or the Islamic Du'a, which ask for well-being for all humanity.
Sri Rudram acknowledges that God is present everywhere—in nature, in people, in the elements.
It aligns with the idea in various faiths that divinity is not confined to a single form but is omnipresent.
For example, in Islam, God is known by 99 names, each describing a different aspect of the divine—similar to how the creator is described in multiple ways in the Rudram.
In the presence of Swami Ramkripananda, chanters recited the Rudram 11 times, creating an energy so powerful that was enjoyed by all. Children from the local community joined in throughout the recitation and sat in an admirable silence. After the chanting ended, the entire congregation sat in silence to allow the spiritual vibrations to settle in before joining in to take a group photograph.

What a feast of spiritual vibrations to pray together and to send this out for the prosperity of all of God's creations.
