The 5th in the series of Rudram 11, organised by Vedas4all in KZN, was held at the Indian Consulate in Durban. The momentum of our Rudram 11 was really taken to another level with 39 lead chanters availing themselves for the day. This was the highest number of lead chanters we have had thus far and is a reflection of the love and commitment of the chanters. While chanting is led by the lead chanters, most others in the room were also chanting creating a powerful vibration.
Performing the Rudram 11 at the Consulate General is true testament to the "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" - a Sanskrit phrase that translates to "the world is one family". It emphasises the interconnectedness of all living beings and promotes the idea that humanity should be viewed as a single, unified family. The phrase is composed of three Sanskrit words: "Vasudha" (earth), "iva" (like), and "kutumbakam" (family). Together, they convey the idea that the entire planet and all its inhabitants are part of one large, extended family.
This aspect of unity and divinity pervading creation is emphasised thoughout the chanting of the Namakam within the Sri Rudram. Within the Namakam, the phrase "Namaha" is repeated 169 times, which translates to "not mine". This is a reveleation that everything that exists is nothing but Divinity including, the rivers, trees, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly.

After the chanting ended, the entire congregation sat in silence to allow the spiritual vibrations to settle in. Dressed in the colours of the Indian flag, we held candles remembering those recently killed in Pahalgm in India.
Another beautiful Rudram 11 completed in our journey of chanting together for universal peace and harmony.
The next Rudram11 will be held on July 12 at the Sivan Sabay in Verulam
